Bubble Blow is a 2D arcade style Windows xp XNA game being developed by another student and myself for the Independent Games Festival 2009. The game is meant to be an easy to pick up yet fun and addictive time waster. The player controls two air-jet firing cannons to keep an ever-increasing amount of falling balls in the air while launching them towards a goal to score points. Various static walls, moving obstacles and “bad balls” are present to make this task even harder. The bad yellow balls detract both lives and points if they touch the goal, while the same consequences occur if the brown balls fall below the edge of the screen. A third student provided hand drawn art which added to our theme of simple and fun gameplay, while a fourth student created an original light and upbeat song for use in the game.
Shortly after submitting Bubble Blow to IGF 2009, we were contacted by GameCareerGuide asking myself and the other three people who worked on Bubble Blow for an interview. We happily obliged, emailed them our responses and they put our interview in the features section on the front page much to our delight. The article can be found here.
