EGP April Roundup (Repeat)

The final list for April’s Experimental Gameplay Project (theme: Repeat) is out today. My game, Re(de)fine, is my first attempt at an EGP submission. I found the whole process to be really exciting and enlightening. The limited development time and resources forced me to think about my core gameplay and how I could demonstrate my idea in the easiest and quickest way possible. Though these restrictions existed, there was never really any stress during Re(de)fine’s 5 day development period. I was programming in an environment where it was okay to fail and everybody involved understands the purpose of the experiment. These games are meant to get developers quickly prototyping their ideas into a basic, yet playable, demonstration of core mechanics. It is refreshing to sit down and pump out a game for the sake of the game and not its presentation. I am already looking forward to next month’s topic!
